Want a netbook and a tablet in one? Dell might have the right gadget for you with the Inspiron Duo convertible tablet.

Like most of the newer netbooks, the Inspiron Duo sports the usual innards of 1.5GHz dual-core N559 Atom, 2GB of RAM and a Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator for Full HD video, 250GB drive, 2GB RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium. The screen on the Inspiron Duo is a 10.1″ unit, but offers 1366×768 pixels. While a novelty, it could be a bane for folks with poor eyesight.

Unlike Lenovo’s take at the convertible tablet with it’s swivel display lid, the Inspiron Duo allows you to flip the display and close the lid to use it in tablet mode. When you do this, a Stage user interface, the finger-friendly UI borrows heavily from the software included with Dell’s smaller Streak tablet, pops up automatically.

Price for the Inspiron Duo, as with most netbooks with nonstandard features, is a bit on the hefty side at $549. This netbook hybrid will be available starting December.

Due for release in June, the M11x is about to get Intel’s latest chips Core i3, i5 and i7 CPUs inside it’s 11.6-inch notebook hood.

According to the interview of Shuffle Magazine with Pearce Clune, Head of Consumer Operations for Middle East, Africa and Turkey, the M11x is about to shed it’s current Pentium SU4100 1.30GHz and Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.30GHz processor options in favor of the faster Intel chips. It’s likely that this upgrade will also include Nvidia’s Optimus Technology for graphics switching though there’s no real confirmation for that at the moment.

This is the first time I’ve heard of Cherrypal though the company’s name has been somewhat been ringing around several tech circles because of their past netbook release the Cherrypal Africa, a 7″ netbook preloaded with Linux and Windows CE.

This year, the company is set to introduce the upgrade to their ultra small portable, an Android-based netbook with an asking price of just $99.

At $99, a 7″ netbook may not be enough screen real-estate so you can opt for a 10″ version at just $148. With that pricing, it’s quite reminiscent of the original Asus EEE PC doesn’t it with it’s initial price tag of $199. Too bad the EEE became too popular that everybody wanted one and ended up ballooning the price to $399 .

The Cherrypal Asia packs a Via 8505 SoC (System on Chip) clocking at 533MHz, 256MB RAM memory, 2GB on-board NAND flash, an expandable SD card slot with up to 8GB external storage, three USB 2.0 ports, 802.11 b/g WiFi, 10/100 Ethernet port for internet connectivity, a 1.3MP built-in camera along with audio ports for the mic and speakers.

Both models are available now and preloaded with Android 1.6. Suggested retail price for the 7″ version is $99 and $148 for the 10.1″.

Acer is one of the first netbook makers to jump on the PineTrail (Intel’s latest atom platform) bandwagon with it’s upcoming Aspire One AO532h unit. The AO532h has a 1.66GHz Atom N450 CPU, 10.1-inch WSVGA display and 1GB of RAM, along with a 160GB hard-drive and WiFi b/g/n. According to Acer, it can run for up to 10 hours on the high-density 5,600mAh 6-cell battery (or 8 hours on the regular, 4,400mAh pack).

These new Aspire One AO532h netbooks are packed with powerful features and performance to boost productivity and battery life, enhancing the mobile computing experience.

Designed for all day mobility and connectivity, the Aspire One AO532h netbooks feature the latest Intel® technology with the Intel Atom N450 processor, 10 hours of battery life(3), fast Wi-Fi connectivity, a 10.1-inch LED-backlit TFT LCD and a large keyboard with a Multi-Gesture touchpad. All this power and functionality comes in a package that is only 1-inch thin and weighs just over 2-1/2 pounds, making it a true mobile companion.

“These new Aspire One netbooks offer mobile users some of the features and performance of a larger notebook, while providing a highly portable, compact design that’s easy to take anywhere,” said Ray Sawall, senior manager of product marketing for Acer America. “Consumers can browse the Internet, check email, share photos, enjoy their entertainment applications, and even get work done wherever their travel takes them.”

High-Performance Features That Save Power for All Day Mobility
Engineered for extreme mobility, the Aspire One utilizes the energy-efficient Intel® Atom™ N450 processor, integrated Intel graphics and the mobile Intel NM10 Express chipset to keep users connected while on-the-go.

To further support power savings and longer battery life, the netbooks’ 10.1-inch LED-backlit TFT LCD saves 22.2 percent power compared with other netbook displays(4).

The new Aspire One netbook line offers many configurations to fit a wide range of consumer needs. Batteries are one component that have several options, including a high-density, six-cell Li-ion (5600 mAh) battery that delivers up to 10 hours of battery life or a 6-cell Li-ion (4400 mAh) for up to 8 hours battery life. Additionally, the batteries give a slight tilt to the netbook for a more comfortable typing experience.

Mobile Performance and Connectivity
The new Aspire One AO532h netbooks offer users a simple and reliable mobile computing solution. The netbooks all come with ample memory and a large internal hard drive to store plenty of digital albums, music and documents.

For further communications needs, the netbooks are equipped with a built-in webcam, delivering smooth video streaming and high quality images for online chats and video conferences. They also utilize a Multi-Gesture Touchpad, allowing users to pinch, flick and swirl their fingers across the touchpad for intuitive navigation.
