Google allows you to filter your search results

To further curb the problem of content-farms, Google now lets you block websites off your search results. This is quite useful with several sites that only contain keywords that you’re searching for and not much else.

This feature is already available through plugins like Greasemonkey combined with user scripts to “block” specific sites from your search results page so it’s a welcome change to have Google implement it natively with their search page.

APN Settings for Globe, Smart and Sun cellular

If you’re trying to get online using your mobile phone, tablet, gadget or any other electronic device then you will need the proper APN (Access Point Name) settings for your carrier.  If your device was bought from the carrier itself (Globe, Smart, Sun), chances are you already have the proper APN installed on your phone.  If not just use the settings provided below:

AMD introduces Radeon HD 6990 Dual GPU

Move over 5970, the new king of the hill is here. AMD’s top end card, the dual-GPU Antilles or for easier references the Radeon HD 6990 has arrived.

The Radeon HD 6990 is clocked at 830MHz GPU frequency (@1.12v) and 1,250MHz for the memory (5.0Gbps effective data rate) and is equipped with 4GB of on-board frame buffer memory—2GB per GPU, 3072 stream processors enabled, 192 texture units, and 64 ROPs. Added up, that’s about twice the specs of a Radeon HD 6970s (almost as the 6970 cards are clocked at 880MHz). This dual GPU monster has a suprisingly low idle TDP of just 37W and a TDP at load of 375W (lol, it’s a monster card indeed).

MacBook Pro 2011revision Benchmarks

MacBook Pro 2011revision Benchmarks

Apple’s 2011 refresh for it’s MacBook Pro line is certain to turn heads, sporting quad-core Sandy CPUs and new AMD GPUs. Yep it looks almost exactly as the 2010 refresh (except for the new Thunderbolt port) but as many fans of the notebook line keep re-iterating, it’s the internals that matters.

Here’s the performance benchmarks for Apple’s new MacBook Pro’s:

Gmail accidentally resetting accounts

Gmail accidentally resetting accounts

If you logged in to your gmail account, saw that your email archives are gone and are seeing the welcome message from your very first login, tough luck.  Your gmail account has just been reset to it’s pristine, empty condition.

According to reports, as many as 500,000 Gmail users lost access to their inboxes with years worth of messages, attachments and Google Chat logs down the drain.  That’s quite a loss if you’re using gmail as your primary storage for information and whatnot.

Apple updates Macbook Pro line with Sandy Bridge, AMD GPUs

Apple updates Macbook Pro for 2011 with Sandy Brige, Lightpeak, AMD GPUs and Facetime

Apple has just unveiled the updated line of MacBook Pro notebooks ahead of the upcoming iPad 2 launch event on March 2.

These new MBPs sport Intel’s new Sandy Bridge processors on all models and the option of quad-core CPUs and AMD GPUs on their 15″ and 17″.  Surprised at seeing AMD there instead of Nvidia?  So am I but it does seem that the legal wranglings between Intel and Nvidia have cost the green team their partnership with Apple for it’s Macbook Pro line.  If you remember past MBP updates, Apple was using Nvidia’s GPU (and lately Nvidia’s Optimus graphics switching technology) for it’s higher-end line Macbook Pros.
