It seems to be the unlikeliest of partnership but one that makes more sense than your average mash-up.

AMD has now announced a partnership with Valve that will see graphics driver updates appear on Steam.  Aside from providing you an alternative means of downloading ATI‘s latest drivers, the content distribution service will be able to “detect and install the latest ATI Catalyst driver for . . . ATI Radeon graphics card directly from within Steam.”

Aside from announcing it’s latest prosumer DSLR, the Nikon D7000, Nikon also introduces a new speedlite, the SB-700 flashgun.

The SB-700 sits comfortably in between the trusty old SB-600 and the more expensive yet amazingly functional SB-900.  ike the SB-600 it offers wireless control and similar recycle times.  Like the SB-900, it can serve as a slave and a master (controlling only upto two groups) for Nikon’s Creative Lighting System.  The SB-700 also has a multi-step auto zoom that offers extended reach from 24 to 120mm.  Nikon has graciously including a rotating head, built-in bounce card, a supplied diffuser and both incandescent and fluorescent filters.

Nikon has unveiled the successor to it’s D90 prosumer-level SLR camera, the Nikon D7000.

The all new Nikon D7000 features 16.2Mp CMOS sensor, faster ‘Expeed 2′-branded processor, 921k dot 3.0″ LCD, record 1080p full HD movies, 39-point AF system with 3D tracking and 2,016 pixel RGB metering sensor encased in a magnesium alloy body.

Samsung Mobile Secret Codes


Aside from the default functionality from it’s menus, Samsung phones (like those from Nokia) also support secret codes which give you specific and additional functionality. Whether it’s to view your phone’s serial number, the IMEI number or even disable the GPRS (something that you can’t find in the menu), Samsung has included a specific secret code for you to use.

These secret mobile codes are usually not included in your phone manual which is why they are referred to as secret :) .

I wasn’t able to try this until recently (mostly because I’ve been extremely busy finishing stuff) which is why I’m only posting about Gmail’s Priority Inbox just now.

So what exactly does the Priority Inbox do? As the name implies, it’s a sort of email segregation but it’s not just another implementation of tags, and stars (both of which already present in Gmail). Instead, it’s a visual segregation of your emails that will allow you to see which emails you need/want to prioritize in your inbox… hence the name :)

The latest generation of Apple’s iPod Nanos now sport a full (albeit small) touchscreen via it’s 1.54-inch TFT screen at a resolution of 240×240 pixels with at 8GB and 16GB capacity.

Apple adds a bit more features to the latest Nano via a clip at the back,  dedicated volume controls and lock button at the top of the device, multi-touch controls, FM radio, pedometer functions and voice over.

Makes you wonder why you’ve bought the 5th Generation Nano now don’t you?

Sony to setup an iTunes rival


Sony to setup an iTunes rival

Sony is set to launch a new service that’s meant to rival Apple’s iTunes. The announcement was made public Wednesday, September 1 at the IFA Technology Conference fair in Berlin, Germany .

Details are still currently scarce but Sony has announced that this subscription based music and video service is on track for a 2011 launch, with deals with the major record labels and studios all in the pipeline.

Samsung has finally spilled the beans on its long-awaited tablet computer, the Galaxy Tab, during a press conference at the IFA consumer electronics fair in Berlin.

The Galaxy Tab is referred to as a “smart media device,” that boast specs you’d expect from a high-end smartphone: Android (Android) 2.2 support, a Cortex A8 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal memory with the possibility of upgrading through microSD memory cards.
